The Practice
Senior Advisors Who Own the Outcome, Not Just the Process
Mercer Practice is built around a small team of experienced capital protection specialists who carry individual accountability for every client engagement they lead.
Meet the Team
A Practice Built on Accountability
Mercer Practice has never operated as a large advisory firm, and it will not. The firm's founding philosophy holds that capital protection advisory loses its integrity the moment it is scaled beyond the point where senior advisors retain direct, personal accountability for each client's outcome. Our team of five senior professionals — each with a background in structured finance, insurance law, or fiduciary management — works across a deliberately limited client roster. This constraint is not a function of capacity; it is a function of standards. When a risk structure is built under the Mercer Practice name, the advisor who designed it is the advisor who monitors it, defends it, and revises it. The charcoal-and-gold discipline that defines our visual identity reflects the same qualities we value in our professionals: rigour without ostentation, substance without noise.
IInsurance Structuring
Deep technical knowledge of insurance-grade capital wrappers, Solvency II compliance, and the contractual mechanics of protection instruments. Our insurance structuring specialist has placed wrappers across Romanian, Austrian, and Luxembourgish jurisdictions over a fifteen-year career.
IICross-Border Jurisdiction
Command of EU and select non-EU treaty frameworks governing ownership structures, beneficial ownership disclosure, and jurisdictional risk containment. Our jurisdiction specialist previously served as legal counsel to a Romanian pension fund and holds dual bar admission.
IIIFiduciary and Trust Law
Expertise in fiduciary arrangement design, trust law applicable within EU member states, and the documentation standards required for structures to survive succession and regulatory scrutiny. Our fiduciary specialist brings twelve years of post-qualification experience across three jurisdictions.
IVQuantitative Risk Modelling
Proprietary stress-testing methodologies, Monte Carlo scenario analysis, and risk-budget framework design. Our quantitative specialist translates complex market risk into plain client-facing language without losing the analytical rigour that makes the output actionable.
VClient Advisory and Communication
The discipline of translating highly technical risk analysis into decisions a client can understand, evaluate, and authorise. Our lead client advisor has structured and delivered over two hundred risk-management strategy presentations to private and institutional clients across Romania and the EU.
How We Onboard New Clients
Every engagement begins with a confidential intake conversation — a structured, non-advisory session in which a senior advisor listens to the client's situation, current holdings, and primary concerns. No recommendations are made in this session. The output is an initial risk-identification memo circulated to the client within five working days. If both parties decide to proceed, a full risk register and strategy memorandum are produced within twenty working days. From that point, the engagement is governed by a written advisory agreement that specifies scope, fees, review cadence, and the individual advisor accountable for each element of the structure. There are no surprises in how we charge or what we deliver — the documentation standard is a feature, not a formality.
What I valued most was that the same person who conducted the intake conversation also signed the strategy memorandum and has run every quarterly review for three years. There is a consistency of understanding about my situation that simply does not exist when you deal with large institutions where you meet a different analyst every six months.
